Read our prerequisites and follow simple configuration instructions to install the ParentGuard monitoring application on target devices.

Installation Prerequisites

  • You possess a registered **ParentGuard supervisor account** (created via register.php).
  • You have **physical access** to your child's target phone to carry out configurations.
  • You have explicit legal authority (guardianship or ownership) over the target device.

Adjust Security Features

Google Play Protect automatically blocks software not listed directly in the Play Store (ParentGuard runs discreetly and is downloaded directly via APK).

  • Open **Google Play Store** on the target Android phone.
  • Tap the supervisor profile icon and click **Play Protect** > **Settings Icon**.
  • Turn off **"Scan apps with Play Protect"** and confirm.

Enable Unknown Sources

Allows the device to process manual APK application downloads.

  • Go to Android **Settings** > **Security** (or Apps & Notifications).
  • Turn on **"Install Unknown Apps"** for the active browser (e.g. Chrome).

Download & Install the APK

Get the installer files on the phone.

  • Open the download browser and navigate to the custom download URL sent to your registered email.
  • Download the **ParentGuard.apk** file, tap it to run, and click **Install**.
  • Launch the application and sign in with your supervisor account details.

Grant Required Permissions

Allow ParentGuard background features to function cleanly.

  • Enable **Accessibility Services** for ParentGuard (this lets you see screen text and messages).
  • Grant **Notification Access** (to intercept and flag incoming WhatsApp/FB logs).
  • Allow background battery management exemptions by turning off optimization for ParentGuard.
  • Select **Stealth Mode** during setup to hide the application launcher icon if desired.
